Google uses their own search algorithms to have a ranking system designed to sort through their search index to provide users with the most relevant and useful results within a fraction of a second to their keyword search.
If a user wants to know about the best Korean restaurants in Singapore, all they have to do is just to key in the keywords and more than 52 million results were out within 0.65 seconds. Google search engine algorithms was able to filter out and provide the users with the most desirable results.

Google also provides their Pay Per Click (PPC) services to businesses and customers through their Google Ads service. Google ads will show up before SEO results and appear the very moment a user searched for a product or service that match their keywords.

Google has been the biggest search engine company for years and no one seems near to dethroning their dominances. Do you think anyone will ever dethrone and replace Google?

  1. Hi Jun Chun! I love the usage of statistics in your analysis 🙂

To answer your question, I personally do not think that Google will be dethrone (Not striking out any possibility, but most likely not in the near future). As mentioned in your statistics above, the market share of Google is approximately at a whooping 92%! Here’s a reason why I think Google is so successful today:

A few big brands that we are more familiar with such as Waze, Youtube and Fitbit are acquired by Google. Here’s a list of more companies acquired by the search engine giant: https://www.gadgetsnow.com/slideshows/googles-12-biggest-acquisitions-and-what-they-mean-for-you/google-announces-acquisition-of-fitbit-for-2-1-billion-in-2019/photolist/71862152.cms Google has a brilliant growth strategy of acquiring companies to collect consumer’s data as well as removing possible threats/rivalry. Check this out for more reasons why: https://qz.com/1920334/the-acquisitions-that-built-googles-monopoly-on-search/

Not only do Google provide a search engine, it also provide services such as its subsidiaries – YouTube and Google maps etc which are prominent players in its market and are optimised when paired with the use of Google search engine. It’s like an ecosystem made easy for users. We can safely say that Google is seriously a strong rival to dethrone!

Since all talk’s about Google, how has google changed the world? Looking forward to your sharings! 🙂

    1. Hi Yuki! Thanks for your thoughts on my post!
I personally feel that Google changed the world through their innovations and constant improvement to their company! Like you mentioned, they acquired big brands and combine it with their technology to cater to the world. Youtube one of the best example in recent years, they bought it for $1.65 billion back in 2006 and fast forward to today, it has net worth of more than $190 billion. How did they managed to do this? They constantly improve their system and add in revenues through advertisements on their applications or websites.
Hope that this will give you a better understanding and thanks for your comment and view on my post!

Answering your question, I do not think that Google will be dethroned any time soon. With reference to the statistics that you have mentioned in your post, it will be hard for other search engines to replace Google since they currently own nearly 92% of the search engine market share.
From the way internet users discover sites through search, it is crucial for businesses to work towards a high website ranking in order to grow their business. With that being said, what do you think are some ways to improve search engine ranking? Let me know your thoughts!
